About Me

I'm Lauren- a musician and music teacher based in West Yorkshire.

I graduated from my masters degree in music performance from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in 2020 and have been teaching and performing ever since.

During my studies, I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the diverse and extensive repertoire of the flute and piccolo as well as studying the saxophone and clarinet. This has led to performance opportunities across the UK and Europe and I am a regular on the musical theatre scene in West Yorkshire playing for shows. I also enjoy playing events and weddings as a soloist or with various groups.

I have been teaching music across a number of schools in Kirklees for the past few years, as well as conducting wind bands and other ensembles. I also teach piano and woodwind for Kirklees Guitar School in Denby Dale as well as from my studio in Silsden.

I was lucky to have a very musical childhood having lessons on piano, drums and of course, flute! I started playing flute at the age of seven which later led to me learning the saxophone and clarinet too. I have always played in wind bands and orchestras and have a close relationship with the concert band Hot Aire! based in Shipley.

Music is amazing and I love sharing what it can do with others. My aim as a teacher is to develop well-rounded musicians with great musical awareness. I promote great technique, music reading and theory through playing all kinds of musical genres, from pop to classical. I often include improvisation and composition in to my lessons and allow creativity in music to flourish. Music can be so much more than just reading the notes!
